Srinagar, Sep 25 (GNS): The Jammu and Kashmir Government accorded sanction to “The Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers Free LPG Scheme” for providing six free LPG refills annually to eligible Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) households in the Union Territory.
As per Government Order issued by the Department of Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, the scheme has been approved pursuant to Council of Ministers Decision No. 123/11/2026 dated 10-09-2026.
Under the scheme, six free domestic LPG refills per family per year shall be provided to all eligible AAY households, in addition to any other benefit admissible under any other scheme of the Government of India.
The scheme shall be restricted exclusively to eligible AAY households as verified through the AePDS database of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs Department, J&K, with appropriate safeguards to prevent duplication or claims by ineligible beneficiaries.
The order states the scheme shall remain applicable for a period of four years, while detailed modalities for its implementation shall be issued separately after due vetting and approval of the Competent Authority.(GNS)
