Srinagar, Oct 25 (GNS): Students appearing for the Jammu and Kashmir State Eligibility Test (JKSET) on Sunday said traffic congestion along the M.A. Road–Habak Crossing stretch was making it difficult for them to reach designated examination centres.
The disruption coincided with the government-organised Kashmir Marathon 3.0 in Srinagar, slowing traffic along the stretch.
With the 12 pm reporting time approaching, students travelling to the University of Kashmir and other colleges designated as examination centres said they were struggling to reach their destinations.
In view of the traffic situation, the University rescheduled the examination from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm to facilitate candidates. However, students conveyed to GNS that the revised schedule had offered limited relief, particularly to those still caught in traffic with little time left to reach their respective centres.
They said public transport was not readily available along the affected stretch, while candidates travelling in private vehicles were also caught in traffic snarls at several locations.
Although the University had arranged vehicles to assist candidates, students said the available transport was insufficient to meet the demand, leaving many aspirants struggling to find a way to reach their examination centres on time.
The students have urged the authorities to facilitate the movement of examination candidates, saying aspirants who had set out in time should not be penalised for delays beyond their control. (GNS)
