Anantnag, July 31 (GNS): Continuing its sustained action against drug trafficking, Anantnag Police apprehended a non-local drug peddler during naka checking at Pazalpora, Bijbehara Police said on Friday.
In a statement issued to GNS, a police spokesperson said that the apprehended individual has been identified as Mohammad Irfan Khan, son of Mohammad Jahangir Khan, resident of Bawana, New Delhi and presently residing at Awantipora.
“During checking, brown sugar weighing about 5.20 grams was recovered from his possession,” the spokesperson said.
In this regard, FIR No. 231/2026 under Sections 8/21 of NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Bijbehara. Investigation has been initiated to ascertain further links and connections in the case, he added.
“Anantnag Police reiterates its firm commitment to curbing drug trafficking and protecting the youth from the scourge of drugs,” the statement further reads. (GNS)
