Srinagar, Apr 18 : Emotional scenes unfolded at Haj House Bemina on Saturday morning as the first group of Haj pilgrims from Kashmir began their journey to Saudi Arabia, marking the start of this year’s sacred pilgrimage.

As per news agency JKNS, the atmosphere at Haj House was filled with devotion, prayers, and emotional farewells as families gathered since early morning to see off their loved ones selected for Haj 2026.

As departure time approached, heartfelt moments were witnessed across the premises, with relatives embracing pilgrims, offering prayers, and struggling to hold back tears. Children waved goodbye, while elderly pilgrims recited verses and held prayer beads tightly before departure.

Speaking on the occasion, pilgrims expressed gratitude and emotion. “It is a blessing from Allah. We waited for this moment for years,” said an elderly pilgrim from Srinagar moments before boarding.

Family members accompanying pilgrims described a mix of joy and sorrow. “We are emotional because they are leaving, but also grateful because they are going for Hajj. It is a great blessing for us,” said a relative.

Another attendant said prayers were being offered for the safe return of all pilgrims. “Every family here is emotional. We only pray for their good health and safe journey,” he said.

Earlier, an official from Hajj house told JKNS that three flights carrying 431 pilgrims are scheduled for departure on the first day. The group includes 230 men and 201 women pilgrims.

He said the first flight comprises 79 men and 66 women, the second 78 men and 65 women, while the third flight carries 73 men and 70 women.

He added that all necessary arrangements including transport, medical screening, baggage handling, and documentation have been put in place to ensure smooth operations.

“The entire process has been well-organised and is running smoothly from morning,” he said.

Officials further informed that pilgrims have been instructed to strictly adhere to reporting timings: QP-7521 between 06:00–06:30 AM, QP-7520 between 08:15–08:45 AM, and QP-7519 between 09:00–09:30 AM. Pilgrims have also been advised to carry valid travel documents and avoid restricted items. —(JKNS)
