Live mortar shell found In Mendhar River, defused

Poonch, April 15 (GNS): A 5-MM live mortar shell was found in Mendhar River in Poonch district  of Jammu and Kashmir, police said on Wednesday.

Reports reaching here said that some villagers noticed the suspicious object on the banks of Mendhar Nallah  near the Jaba Bridage and accordingly informed police about it.

Confirming it, a police official said that a joint team of police, army and bomb disposal squad were immediately reached the spot and found the live mortar shell.

The 51-MM live shell was later defused with out causing any damage, the officer told GNS.

Further investigation is on, the official said. (GNS)
