Srinagar, April 20(GNS): A major theft attempt was foiled by locals in the Saidpora area of Uri, Baramulla district, on Sunday-Monday midnight.
As per the reports reaching GNS, two thieves with a vehicle were caught red-handed and later handed over to Police Station Uri, where they were taken into custody.
The thieves were trying to pilfer electric wire near Saidpora road. The accused have been identified as Ishtiyaq Ahmed Khan, son of Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, resident of Dardkote, and Muneer Ahmed Dandroo, resident of Srinagar.
A senior police officer confirmed to GNS about the incident and said that the police have registered a case in this regarding and further investigation has been taken up.(GNS)
