Srinagar, Oct 28 (GNS): Leader of Opposition in J&K Assembly Sunil Sharma on Wednesday claimed that there is an internal rift within the National Conference and that a dissatisfied group inside the party has been demanding an end to dynastic politics.
Talking to reporters, Sharma as per GNS said, “This is an internal matter of the National Conference. I had said earlier also that there is infighting within them. That rift is now coming to the fore. A dissatisfied group has been continuously demanding that family rule will not continue, dynasty will not continue. That came out yesterday.”
He said after the oath ceremony yesterday, the dissatisfied group came out with separate statements and protests. “We are waiting for when all these things will happen,” he said.
On being asked about workers leaving NC, Sharma said he is not an expert on NC. “I have not done a PhD on National Conference. But I stand by my statement that there is a rift inside, the party has broken. Wait and watch, the party will break and the government will also break,” he said.
On rumours that BJP has approached many MLAs, Sharma denied it. “Why will BJP approach? Why would we approach when I am saying BJP will not form the government? We don’t need to approach. It is their own internal fight, why should we jump into it?” he said.
On former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah’s recent statement regarding Pakistan, Sharma launched a sharp attack. He said it could be due to age, part of a conspiracy, or truth coming out from heart.
“The Abdullah family has always praised Pakistan and this family is responsible for bloodshed in Kashmir. Sometimes they speak Pakistan’s language, sometimes China’s and sometimes Bangladesh’s. It is in the DNA of Abdullah family,” Sharma alleged.
He said, “Whatever Farooq Abdullah has got till now, he has got from India. In 1975, Congress gave power to his father Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah on a platter. In 1987, Congress crossed all limits of rigging to make Farooq Abdullah Chief Minister, and even in 1996.”
Sharma demanded action from agencies, referring to the J&K Cricket Association case and JK Bank case. “I think agencies are very slow. There is a proved case of JKCA where crores went into Farooq Abdullah’s account, agencies are silent on that also. In JK Bank case, in which Omar Abdullah himself is involved, they are silent. Today he makes anti-national statements and still agencies are silent. Why is he getting exemption?” he said.
He demanded investigation and said, “If any person, irrespective of age, makes such statements against the country, he should face action and Farooq Abdullah should also face it.”(GNS)
