Petrol, Diesel prices may rise by Rs 5/litre before May 15: Report

Srinagar: The All Kashmir Butchers’ Union has stated that mutton will continue to be sold at ₹700 per kilogram, rejecting reports suggesting prices have risen to ₹750–₹800 per kilogram. The Union emphasized there will be no increase ahead of Ramadan and Eid-ul-Fitr.

The body urged consumers to buy mutton only at the fixed rate and cautioned against paying higher prices. While acknowledging challenges such as illegal levies on livestock trucks in Punjab, including those linked to the Madhopur cattle fair and grazing taxes, the Union said it remains committed to protecting Kashmiri buyers from price inflation.

The Union appealed to the Jammu and Kashmir government to coordinate with Punjab authorities to stop such practices and ensure smooth and uninterrupted meat supply.

Khazir Mohammad Regoo, President of the Union, said the organization remains dedicated to preventing artificial price hikes and safeguarding the interests of both consumers and traders.
