Srinagar, September 14: The Jammu and Kashmir National Health Mission Employees Association (JKNHMEA) has announced an extension of its ongoing peaceful protest and strike for another 72 hours, beginning September 15, across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a formal communication addressed to the Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, the association said the decision to extend the strike was taken due to the continued pendency of its long-standing demands and the absence of any concrete, time-bound resolution from the authorities.

The association maintained that the protest would remain completely peaceful, democratic and constitutional, and urged all participating employees to maintain discipline and uphold public order during the course of the agitation.

According to the communication, the extension has been formally intimated to the competent authorities in advance for their information and necessary action.

The JKNHMEA reiterated its commitment to dialogue and constructive engagement with the government and expressed hope that meaningful and time-bound measures would be initiated to address the grievances of NHM employees.

The association said the latest decision amounts to a formal extension of the 72-hour peaceful protest/strike from September 15, 2026.(KNC)
