Supervisor, Chowkidar Attached to Laribal Trout Fish Farm During Suspension; Detailed Report Sought Within Three Days

Srinagar, July 24: The Directorate of Fisheries, Jammu and Kashmir, has placed two officials under suspension with immediate effect after they were allegedly found absent from duty without prior permission during a surprise inspection of the Fish Farm Kohru (Langate) in Handwara area of Kupwara district.

According to an official order issued by Director Fisheries, J&K, Ab. Majid Tak, the disciplinary action has been initiated pending a departmental inquiry into the alleged unauthorized absence of the officials from their place of posting.

The suspended officials have been identified as Nazir Ahmed Wani, Supervisor, and Mohd. Rafiq Lone, Chowkidar.

The order states that both officials were found absent from duty without sanctioned leave or prior approval from the competent authority. Their unauthorized absence has been treated, prima facie, as misconduct and dereliction of official duties, necessitating disciplinary proceedings under the relevant service rules.

Pending completion of the inquiry, both officials have been attached to the Trout Fish Farm, Laribal, Dachigam, Srinagar, where they will remain during the suspension period. They have been directed not to leave their place of attachment without obtaining prior permission from the competent authority and will receive subsistence allowance and other admissible benefits as per rules.

Meanwhile, the Assistant Director Fisheries, Kupwara, has been directed to ensure the smooth functioning of the Fish Farm Kohru by making appropriate staffing arrangements. The officer has also been instructed to submit a detailed report, including attendance records, leave records, duty rosters, and other relevant documents, to the Directorate within three days to facilitate further action.

The suspension order has been issued in continuation of Order No. 401-Fisheries of 2026 dated July 20, 2026, which pertains to the same matter.(KNC)
