Srinagar, Oct 13 (GNS): Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday lashed out at the J&K Waqf Board over its move to introduce uniform Friday sermons at all mosques across the Union Territory, terming it an unacceptable interference in religious affairs of Muslims.
In a post on X, Omar Abdullah, as per GNS said, “This is an unacceptable attempt by the BJP to interfere in the religious affairs of Muslims and will not be accepted under any circumstances. The BJP appointed Chairperson must immediately halt this misplaced attempt to please her masters.”
Pertinently, the J&K Waqf Board has pushed for uniform Friday sermons (Khutbas) at all mosques in the Union Territory and will become the first region in the country to adopt this mechanism to ensure the topics to be highlighted at religious places are pre-decided and approved by a committee of preachers.(GNS)
