Paralyzed patient’s agony depicts facility paralysis in Super Specialty hospital

Srinagar, June 26 (GNS):  Attends of a paralyzed patient admitted in Super Specialty hospital here was on Thursday made to move from pillar to post to get X-Ray done on him. The patient is admitted in plastic surgery ward of the ‘Super Specialty’ hospital and was advised an X-Ray examination by doctors. The attendants said that they were told to get portable X-Ray. “But the technician kept us waiting and did nothing despite repeated requests. Ultimately he told us that the machine was not in working condition,” they said. At 1600 hours, the technician left. “Later were told that while machine is in working condition but technician has left and would now be done tomorrow.”

The attendants said that they called Control Room and were directed to visit nearby SMHS hospital.

“We were told the X-ray technician has left and as such portable machine cannot be moved. On top of it they said get your own portable x-ray machine if the diagnosis of urgent nature.”       

The attendants said that the condition of patient admitted in plastic surgery ward’s Bed No.5 has deteriorated and his oxygen saturation level has gone down.  “Our patient is not in a condition to move. Are they waiting for him to die? We have been moving from pillar to post since morning but to no avail,” they told GNS, adding, “Is this the health sector which the government is boasting upon to have improved in the Kashmir,” they said and demanded action against all those who according to them are playing with the lives of the people.

Repeated attempts to contact the Medical Superintendent of the hospital for comments did not fructify. (GNS)
