Srinagar, Sep 26: The Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its Bandipora district president, Syed Sajjad Hussain, from the post with immediate effect, citing remarks that the party said were not in line with its position on the matter.
In an official communication, PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khursheed Alam informed Hussain that his “recent statement and utterance” was not found to be consistent with the party’s stand.
The communication said Hussain would remain suspended from the post of District President pending an explanation from him regarding the matter. He has also been directed not to represent the PDP or its organisation in any capacity until further orders.
The suspension comes amid the party’s stated position that its office-bearers should adhere to the organisation’s official stand on issues of public and political significance.
