November 10: Continuing its drive against drug trafficking, police have arrested five drug peddlers in separate operations in Anantnag and Pulwama and seized a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.

A police team from Police Post Sherbagh, during naka checking at Beig Bagh, Sarnal, intercepted two suspects carrying Pithu bags. During search, 641 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Abdul Wahid Khan son of Fayaz Ahmed Khan resident of Cheni Chowk Anantnag and Amir Yousaf Khan son of Late Yousaf Ahmed Khan resident of Maliknag Anantnag.

Similarly in another operation at Krangsoo village, a police party during patrolling intercepted two suspicious persons who tried to flee from the spot but were apprehended tactfully. During search, 7.6Kgs of Charas powder like substance was recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Kaiser Shakeel Wani son of Shakeel Ahmad Wani and Firdous Ahmad Poya son of Mohd Yousuf Poya both residents of Pehroo.

Moreover in Pulwama, a police party from PS Litter arrested one person and recovered 266.5 grams of Charas powder from his possession during a naka checking operation at Pirtaki, Litter. He has been identified as Sharik Ahmad Dar son of Ab Gani Dar resident of Litter.

All the accused have been arrested and shifted to respective police stations where they remain in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation have been initiated.

Police urges citizens to join hands in the fight against drugs and share any information related to drug peddling. The identity of informants shall be kept strictly confidential.
