Srinagar, July 20 (GNS): Continuing its crackdown on drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Srinagar Police on Sunday attached 10 immovable properties worth approximately ₹8 crore belonging to notorious drug peddlers.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that the properties were attached under Section 68-F of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by Police Station Nowhatta. Officials said these assets were identified during investigation as having been acquired through proceeds generated from illicit narcotics trafficking.

The attached properties include residential houses located in Zahidpora Sheikh Colony Hawal, Tujgari Mohalla Sheikh Colony Nowhatta, Androoni Kathidarwaza, Kathidarwaza Rainawari and Barthana Qamarwari. The structures range from single-storey to four-storey residential houses built on land measuring between 4 to 7 marlas. The estimated value of individual properties ranges from ₹55 lakh to ₹95 lakh.

The attachment has been carried out in connection with multiple FIRs registered under various sections of the NDPS Act against the owners.

Police said the aim of the action is to dismantle the financial infrastructure of drug networks and deprive offenders of benefits derived from illegal drug trade.

“Srinagar Police remains steadfast in its commitment to the Nasha Mukti Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and will continue to take stringent legal action against drug peddlers and all those involved in the narcotics ecosystem,” a police spokesperson said.

The general public has been urged to support the anti-drug campaign by sharing any information related to narcotics trafficking with the nearest police station or through dedicated helplines. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential, reads the statement. (GNS)
