Police Booked 02 Notorious Drug Peddlers Under PIT NDPS Act In Awantipora

July 30: Police in Awantipora have booked two notorious drug peddlers under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act.

The accused identified as Gulzar Ahmad Ganie son of Late Gh. Mohammad Ganie resident of Lidermar, Tehsil Litter, Shahoora and Sheeraz Ahmad Dar son of Abdul Rashid Dar resident of Sheikh Mohallah, Lidermar, Tehsil Litter, Shahoora, have been booked under the PIT NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority. They have subsequently been lodged in Central Jail, Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.

It is pertinent to mention that several cases have been registered against these habitual drug peddlers. They were actively involved in promoting the illicit drug trade by supplying narcotic substances to the local youth of Police District Awantipora and adjoining areas.

Police remain committed to taking stringent action against drug traffickers and other anti-social elements. Such consistent action reflects the resolve of the Police to eradicate the menace of drugs, safeguard the youth, and ensure a drug-free and secure society.
