October 06: Continuing its sustained enforcement against illegal extraction, dumping and transportation of minerals, J&K Police in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, took decisive action against violations at Chakloo, Palhalan and Drangbal.
At Chakloo, one tipper found carrying illegally extracted mining material was intercepted and seized on the spot. Necessary action under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act was initiated through the District Mineral Officer (DMO), Baramulla.
At Palhalan, during area patrolling, an individual was found to have illegally dumped soil/mineral material near his shopping complex without valid supporting documents. Officials of the Geology & Mining Department were called to the spot, following which the material was seized under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act. A fine of ₹40,152 was also recovered from the violator on the spot.
Similarly, at Drangbal, a tipper bearing registration number JK03H-6211, found carrying illegally extracted mining material, was seized on the spot. Necessary legal action under the MMDR Act was initiated through DMO Baramulla.
J&K Police reiterated that strict action will continue against illegal mining, extraction, dumping and transportation of mineral material in the district in coordination with the concerned departments.
