Srinagar, Jun 24: (GNS) Police in south- Kashmir’s Shopian claimed to have recovered narcotics from a drug-peddler on Tuesday last.
An official while divulging the details to GNS told that Station House Officer Officer Shopian, during a naka laid outside district police lines near Narbal crossing, intercepted a suspiciously moving woman carrying a polythene bag, trying to evade the sight of deputed personnel.
It was later on known, as per the official, that the woman was carrying prepared Cannabis covered with maize husk weighing 185 grams and also a cash amount of 94700 INR. The contraband was seized on the spot along the cash, the official said.
A case has been lodged under FIR Number 144/20 under sections 8/16/20 of NDPS Act and further investigations taken up in this regard, the official added.
Meanwhile, the police has urged general public “for co-operation” even as they also warned drug-peddling mafia to “stop the activity or else face stern action under law.” (GNS)
