Srinagar, April 20 (GNS): Police on Monday rescued a girl and arrested her abductor from Khag area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district.

A police officer told GNS that Mohammad Lateef Khan of Shunglipora village of Khag in Budgam district was arrested today by a special police team led by SHO Sadder Raies Hassan for abducting a girl from Mehjoor Nagar area of the city last week.

“The team which worked under the supervision of SDPO Sadder Azhar Rashid also recovered the girl and handed her to the family after completion of all necessary formalities”.

Giving more details of the case, the officer told Global News Service that a complaint was filed at the police station Sadder by a man informing that his daughter has been abducted by unknown person. “On the basis of the complaint, an FIR No. 71/2020 U/S 363, 376 IPC was registered and investigation set into motion”.

“During the course of investigation, the team acted swiftly by utilizing human and technological resources and succeeded in arresting the accused. The girl has been handed over to legal heirs after conducting all legal formalities,” the officer said, adding that further investigation into the matter is in progress. (GNS)
