November 03: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining, Police in Bandipora have seized two L&T machines allegedly involved in the illegal extraction of stones at SK Bala.
Acting on specific information, a police team from Police Post Ajas, accompanied by officials of the Mining Department, conducted a raid at the identified location at around 2:00 AM. During the operation, both L&T machines were seized under the relevant provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMDR Act).
Furthermore, a fine amounting to ₹45,050 was imposed in connection with the illegal mining activity.
J&K Police reiterated its commitment to curbing illegal mining and safeguarding natural resources. It also warned that strict legal action would be taken against anyone found involved in such unlawful activities.
