Srinagar, August 2 (GNS): A houseboat was saved from flooding in Nigeen Lake on Sunday after a prompt response by SDRF personnel.
Officials said that on 02.08.2026, houseboat “New Peony,” owned by Ghulam Nabi Major, located at Nigeen Ghat No. 01, was found flooded with water.
Upon receiving information, an SDRF QRT team from Battalion Headquarters, Srinagar immediately reached the spot. The team assessed the situation and carried out dewatering operations to drain out the accumulated water.
Officials said the timely intervention helped prevent major damage and the team also successfully saved the houseboat owner’s belongings.
No loss of life or major property damage was reported. (GNS)
