Srinagar, Aug 17: Two bear attacks within less than 24 hours have caused anguish among residents of Khonmoh on the outskirts of Srinagar, after a 57-year-old woman was injured in an attack near her residence on Monday morning.
Officials said the woman was attacked by a bear in Shah Mohalla area of Khonmoh during the morning hours.
The injured woman was identified as Fatima, 57, wife of Mohammad Maqbool Wani, a resident of Shah Mohalla, Khonmoh.
The fresh incident comes a day after a man was injured in a separate bear attack in the Shiv Dakri area of Khonmoh on Sunday. The injured man was shifted to a hospital by his family members for treatment, officials said.
The occurrence of two attacks in quick succession has deepened apprehension among residents, particularly in areas located close to forested tracts, amid concerns over the movement of wild animals into populated areas.
