Qazigund, Sept 16: Several Health centres in Qazigund remained shut amid the ongoing strike by National Health Mission (NHM) employees, leaving patients facing difficulties in accessing basic healthcare services.
Residents said the closure has caused inconvenience, particularly to people from rural and far-flung areas who depend on these centres for treatment.
“We have to travel long distances for treatment. With the health centres shut, patients, particularly the elderly and poor, are suffering,” a local resident said.
Block Medical Officer (BMO) Qazigund, Dr. Nighat, said all regular staff have been deployed wherever required.
“We have put all regular staff wherever required. Since the NHM employees are on strike, such a situaion has arisen, but all our regular employees are being utilised,” she said.
People have urged the authorities to intervene and ensure restoration of healthcare services at the earliest. (KNC)
