SMC installs first disinfectant channel at CD hospital

Srinagar, April 2 (GNS): Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) today installed and made operational first disinfectant channel for decontamination and sanitisation at CD hospital Dalgate here amid coronavirus crisis.

Mayor Srinagar accompanied by Deputy Mayor Parvez Qadri, Corporator Irfan Pathan, Commissioner SMC Gazanfar Ali and other officials visited CD hospital to inspect and start off the installation of disinfectant channel to fend off the virus, SMC Mayor said in a statement issued to GNS.

He said people including doctors, hospital workers, patients and other attendants can get sanitised instantly while entering or leaving the hospital.

These disinfectant channels have been built to clean/sanitise people instantly and automatically once they go through the channel, he said.

Besides, various steps have been taken to curb the outbreak of the pandemic by sanitising all the areas where from people were found to be positive for the deadly disease including quarantines, hospitals and other red zone areas with a special recommended chemical QAC, Mattu said.

Commissioner SMC on the occasion said these disinfectant channels were the need of the hour. “SMC engineers worked really hard in preparing these disinfectant channels,” he said.

Ten more such channels shall be installed soon at various designated Covid-19 hospitals, Commissioner said, adding that LD hospital, Bone and Joints hospital, and SMHS will soon have this facility. (GNS)
