Srinagar, July 26 (GNS): The Jammu Srinagar National Highway NH-44 remained closed for 12 hours and 15 minutes from July 25 1600 hrs to July 26 1600 hrs due to landslides at Gangroo Banihal and breakdown of three vehicles at Panthyal and Nachlana Traffic Police Headquarters said.
Issuing the traffic advisory for July 27 officials said that subject to fair weather and better road conditions SANJY convoy and LMVs passenger vehicles and private cars shall be allowed from both sides on NH-44 HMVs however will be permitted on alternate days only TCU Jammu and Srinagar will coordinate with TCU Ramban before releasing traffic.
Cut off timings for LMVs Passenger Private Cars
Nagrota Jammu towards Srinagar 0700 hrs to 1200 hrs Jakheni Udhampur towards Srinagar 0800 hrs to 1300 hrs, Qazigund towards Jammu 1130 hrs to 1730 hrs, an official told GNS.
For HMVs Load Carriers
Subject to weather and road conditions HMVs will be allowed from Jakheni Udhampur No HMV movement will be permitted after 1900 hrs In view of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra all empty tankers of petrol diesel LPG bulk gas trucks carrying empty LPG cylinders and empty FCI vehicles have been directed to use only Mughal Road while returning to Jammu Vehicles up to 10 tyres carrying perishable commodities shall also use Mughal Road on days when the up convoy for HMVs is scheduled on NH-44.
Other key advisories
Due to inclement weather and forecast of rainfall the public is advised to undertake journeys only after confirming road status from TCUs at Srinagar Ramban and Jammu and from the J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and Facebook page.
Inter district movement of local commuters will be facilitated up to 2330 hrs at Nagrota and Qazigund on production of valid photo ID cards
Local commuters in private vehicles heading towards Srinagar are advised to use the old road via Jawahar Tunnel to avoid screening at Lamber Banihal Those travelling to Batote Doda Bhaderwah Kishtwar and adjoining areas from Jammu are advised to use the old road via Patnitop to avoid screening at Nashri
Passengers and LMV operators are advised to prefer daytime travel Night travel should be avoided due to risk of shooting stones and landslides ongoing construction between Ramban Banihal and Yatra movement.
Fruit growers and load carriers carrying fresh perishable from the Valley towards Jammu should park vehicles between NAVYUG Tunnel and Levdoora before 9:00 am on the day of the down convoy.
Commuters are advised to avoid halting unnecessarily between Ramban and Banihal especially near vulnerable landslide zones.
Kishtwar Sinthan Anantnag NH-244 LMVs to ply from PP Parana towards Anantnag between 0800 1600 hrs and from Daksum towards Kishtwar between 0900 1600 hrs.
SSG Road LMVs allowed from both sides up to 1300 hrs HMVs from Minamarg towards Srinagar between 1200 1700 hrs.
Mughal Road NH-701A LMVs and HMVs up to 10 tyres allowed from Chandimarh towards Shopian and from Herpora towards Poonch between 0700 1800 hrs.
Army and security forces have been advised to plan their movement after SANJY convoys to avoid hampering NH-44 traffic.
