Baramulla, Sep 08 (GNS): Body of a 27-year-old youth, who had allegedly jumped into River Jhelum two days ago, was retrieved at Azad Gunj Baramulla on Tuesday evening, officials said.
They told GNS that after strenuous and continuous efforts by State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) Baramulla, the body of Mohd. Arif, son of Mohd. Sultan, resident of Wushkura Baramulla, aged about 27 years, was successfully retrieved from River Jhelum at Azad Gunj.
The deceased had reportedly jumped into the river at the said location on September 6, 2026, triggering an immediate search and rescue operation.
Locals said SDRF teams were on job for the past two days and finally succeeded in tracing the body today.
After completion of medico-legal formalities, the body will be handed over to family for last rites, officials added.(GNS)
