Rajouri, Sep 3 (GNS): Sub-Divisional Magistrate Thannamandi has ordered an enquiry into the death of a 58-year-old man allegedly due to negligence of medical staff at Public Health Centre Thannamandi.

As per an official communique issued by SDM Thannamandi, a copy of which is with GNS, residents alleged that death of 58-year-old Shokit Shawl, which occurred due to cardiac arrest, was caused by negligence / lapse on the part of medical staff posted at PHC Thannamandi and sought a fair enquiry.

Taking cognizance, the SDM in a letter to Chief Medical Officer Rajouri said that allegations being serious in nature and involving public health and required medical services, require a fair, impartial and fact-based enquiry.

The SDM requested the CMO to constitute a committee comprising senior medical officers / BMOs to conduct detailed enquiry by examining relevant medical records, treatment provided to deceased, statements of concerned staff and family members / witnesses and any other relevant material to ascertain whether any negligence, dereliction of duty or procedural lapse occurred.

The committee has been asked to submit detailed report with specific findings and recommendations to SDM office within 7 days for further necessary action. (GNS)
