Srinagar, August 11: A 23-year-old woman was killed after the vehicle she was travelling in met with an accident near Brain area of Nishat in Srinagar, officials said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the accident occurred near a CRPF camp at Brain Nishat, when the vehicle reportedly hit a road divider, leaving the woman critically injured.
The deceased has been identified as Tabiya Ayoob, a resident of Barbarshah, Srinagar.
Following the accident, she was immediately shifted to SMHS Hospital for treatment. However, doctors at the hospital declared her brought dead.
Meanwhile, the body was handed over to Nishat Police for completion of necessary legal and medico-legal formalities.
Police have initiated further proceedings, and an investigation has been set into motion to ascertain the circumstances leading to the fatal accident. (KNC)
