August 10: Continuing its sustained drive against the drug menace, J&K Police apprehended a drug peddler during naka checking in the jurisdiction of Police Post Fruit Mandi and recovered psychotropic substance from his possession.
During naka checking at Bagh-e-Sundri Crossing, a suspicious individual was intercepted. During his personal search, psychotropic substance was recovered and seized as per due legal procedure. The accused has been identified as Mohammad Nasir Khuroo son of Nazir Ahmad Khuroo resident of Bohripora, Sopore. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 198/2026 under Section 8/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation has been taken up to ascertain the source and wider linkages involved.
Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to sustained action against drug peddlers to safeguard youth and society from the menace of drugs.
