Specially-abled students demand separate college; historic institution regains glory under new faculty, with 100% pass rate

Srinagar, May 26 At least seven students from Abhinandan Home Rambagh, Srinagar, who are specially-abled, have excelled in their 11th class examinations, securing distinctions with outstanding results.

Mudasir Ahmad, Principal of Abhinandan Home Rambagh, shared the achievement with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), saying that all seven students who appeared for the exams this year passed with flying colours.

“For these specially-abled students, Abhinandan Home was their only hope, providing them with necessary support and resources to succeed academically,” Mudasir said, adding, “Over the years, hundreds of students from this school have successfully completed their schooling here.”

The students who achieved remarkable results include Aabid Hussian (391 marks), Tawheeda (417), Muskan (378), Burhan Fayaz (389), Mohammad Umaiq (414), Tanzeela Mehraj (442), and Seerat (432).

Earlier, five students from the school cleared their 12th class examinations, and eleven students passed their 10th class exams this year, all securing distinctions, the Principal said.

The students credited their success to dedicated teachers who worked tirelessly to teach them despite facing numerous challenges. They said special efforts are required to help specially-abled students succeed, often demanding twice the effort compared to their peers.

The students expressed gratitude to their parents, teachers, and supporters who believed in their potential and provided unwavering encouragement.

They highlighted the limited educational options available for specially-abled students beyond school, saying that while they can study up to 12th grade, many face difficulties continuing their education afterwards.

They urged the government to establish separate college facilities for specially-abled students within the next year, ensuring they have access to higher education. They called for the creation of district-level special schools to facilitate easier access to education for such students.

The government must develop dedicated college infrastructure for specially-abled students within a year, so they can seamlessly continue their studies beyond school, they said.

Notably, Abhinandan Home Solina High School, established in 1941, had been experiencing a period of stagnation, often described as being stuck in a ‘dead mode’. However, with new staff joining in 2023, the school’s fortunes have dramatically changed.

Since then, students who previously struggled have consistently achieved distinctions from 2023 to 2025. The efforts of the new staff have seemingly revived the school’s academic reputation, heralding a new era of success—(KNO)
