Srinagar, July 30(GNS): The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) Kashmir on Thursday arrested a Punjab-based drug peddler and recovered 100 grams of heroin from him at Lasjan, Nowgam.
In a handout to GNS, the police said that the arrest was made during a targeted operation launched by an ANTF team at Lasjan, near the flyover adjacent to Peaks, based on specific information about the movement of a narcotics carrier.
The accused has been identified as Love Preet Singh, son of Balbir Singh, resident of Sunder Nagar Mustafa Abad, Batala, Amritsar, Punjab.
During the operation, 100 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. The contraband was tested on the spot using a Drug Detection Kit and tested positive for heroin.
A case vide FIR No. 13 of 2026 under Sections 8/21 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station ANTF Kashmir.
Police said further investigation is underway to trace the source of the contraband, its intended destination, and the wider network involved in its transportation and distribution.
ANTF Kashmir said the arrest is part of its sustained drive against drug trafficking and interstate narcotics networks, aimed at preventing the flow of drugs into the Valley.
“Strict action will continue against drug traffickers and their linkages,” a spokesperson said.(GNS)
