Baramulla, 28 July: Continuing its sustained drive against illegal mining and the unlawful extraction of minor minerals, Baramulla Police carried out separate enforcement actions in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department to curb violations under the provisions of the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act, 1957 (MMDR Act).
During a joint enforcement drive, Police Post Wagoora, in coordination with the Geology & Mining Department, seized and challaned two dumper vehicles bearing registration numbers JK05L-6005 and JK05K-9655 for illegally transporting extracted minerals. Legal action was taken under the relevant provisions of the MMDR Act.
In a separate action, Police Post Delina seized one tipper bearing registration number JK04AB-0681, which was found carrying illegally extracted sand. Necessary legal proceedings have been initiated under the provisions of the MMDR Act.
