Budgam, Mar 27 (GNS): A bridge connecting two parts of a village in Chadoora tehsil of central Kashmir’s Budgam district here collapsed on Friday. As per locals, “the bridge collapsed due to extraction of sand and boulders from the nallah by some people for the last several years”. “This was the only way connected us with other parts of the village,” the locals of Choudhari Gund village said. “Now we are not able to go to the other side to buy essentials or for some other purpose.” They said the surge in water level after continuous rain for the last few days caused immense damage to the bridge. R&B Xen Chadoora Hilal Ahmad said the department would construct an alternative bridge in the village to restore people’s movement.
