Srinagar, Nov 3 (GNS): The Paediatric Emergency Triage and Treatment Centre (ETAT) at Children’s Hospital Bemina is reeling under staff shortage, with patients alleging that only two doctors are available to handle the heavy evening rush.
Attendants said the emergency witnesses a huge influx of sick children during evening hours, leading to long queues and prolonged waiting.
Though the on-duty doctors are doing their best, two doctors are not enough to cater to hundreds of patients, they alleged, adding the delay in check-ups is adding to the distress of children and parents.
With cold conditions prevailing, waiting for hours outside the emergency has become an ordeal, especially for infants and sick children, attendants said.
They have appealed to the hospital administration and health department to deploy more doctors in the evening shift and strengthen emergency services to avoid inconvenience to patients.(GNS)
