Srinagar, Oct 20: Students appearing in the Class 10 annual regular examinations at two examination centres in Srinagar allegedly faced considerable difficulties during Monday’s Mathematics paper due to the poor condition of tables and other furniture provided to them.
The affected centres include Linton Hall School in Rajbagh and Government Girls Higher Secondary School in Chanapora, where students said damaged and broken tables disrupted their writing during the examination.
According to students, some of the tables were in such poor condition that their wooden portions repeatedly came loose and fell while they were attempting to write their answers. The repeated disruptions reportedly made it difficult for them to concentrate and complete the paper comfortably.
The students said the condition of the furniture added to the pressure of an examination that requires sustained concentration and adequate writing space. They expressed concern that similar problems could affect candidates during the remaining papers if the necessary repairs were not carried out promptly.
The issue has prompted students to seek the intervention of the concerned authorities, urging them to inspect both examination centres and ensure that functional furniture is provided for all candidates.
With the Class 10 examinations already underway, students have called for immediate repairs or replacement of damaged tables so that candidates can write their remaining papers without avoidable inconvenience. [KNT]
