Srinagar, Sep 8 : The Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) has directed all government and private recognized schools to strictly implement Aadhaar-based VSK chatbot attendance, citing its importance in achieving the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

In a circular, a copy of which lies with news agency KNC, DSEK underlined that NEP 2020 envisions education as a holistic journey that nurtures intellectual curiosity, creativity, emotional intelligence, social skills, and ethical values. It stressed that regular class attendance is the backbone of competency-based learning, teacher-student interaction, peer engagement, and hands-on activities.

The circular observed that students of classes 11th and 12th were increasingly skipping regular classes, with the trend spreading to classes 9th and 10th. Terming this a serious concern, DSEK said such absenteeism undermines the very goals of student development under NEP 2020.

“All stakeholders must ensure strict enforcement of attendance through VSK chatbot/Aadhaar-based monitoring. Principals should also ensure that practical classes in science subjects are conducted regularly as they are crucial for hands-on learning,” the circular stated.

It further directed principals and teachers to create an engaging and academically enriching environment aligned with the NEP 2020 vision of experiential learning.

The order made it clear that Joint Directors, Chief Education Officers, Cluster Heads, and Zonal Education Officers will personally monitor compliance, warning that any non-compliance shall be viewed seriously and may attract disciplinary action. (KNC)
