Illegal soil extraction: 2 tippers seized in Mirgund

Two tippers were seized by authorities as a part of drive to curb illegal soil extraction in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Wednesday.

An official of the district administration said that the concerned police station have received numerous complaints by the locals of Mirgund against the illegal extraction of soil in the area.

“Acting upon the complaints, police swung into action and during a raid at Mirgund, seized two tippers (JK01AJ-3341, JK09-2177) on the spot while extracting soil,” he said.

The officer stressed that police in collaboration with the Geology and Mining department should keep a check on the tippers supplying soil illegally from the district.

He also stressed on the establishing of checkpoints and night raids to curb the illegal soil excavation and directed concerned to take stringent action against the accused. (GNS)
