July 08: In a significant action against the narcotics ecosystem under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, J&K Police in Sopore have attached an immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler under the provisions of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached property comprises a double-storey residential house valued at approximately ₹30 lakh, located at Behrampora, Rafiabad, and belongs to Gulzar Ahmad Zargar @ Sheeda son of Ghulam Hassan Zargar resident of Behrampora, Rafiabad. The action was taken following a detailed enquiry and financial investigation, which revealed that the property had been acquired from proceeds generated through illicit narcotics trafficking. Accordingly, the property was identified as illegally acquired and attached under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act.

With this action, Sopore Police has so far attached eight properties of notorious drug peddlers worth over ₹1.50 crore during the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, reflecting its sustained focus on dismantling the financial infrastructure supporting the narcotics trade.

Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and substance abuse. Stringent legal as well as financial action shall continue against all those involved in the narcotics trade. The action forms part of Sopore Police’s sustained efforts under the 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to eradicate the drug menace and build a safer, healthier and drug-free society.
