Leh, August 15: Jammu and Kashmir Administrative Service (JKAS) officer Syed Sajjad Qadri, presently serving as Director of Rural Development in the Union Territory of Ladakh, has been honoured with the prestigious High-Level Government (HLG) Award for Excellence in Public Administration in recognition of his outstanding performance and contribution to effective governance.

Qadri was the sole recipient of the award, which carries a cash reward along with a certificate of appreciation, acknowledging his exemplary administrative leadership and sustained efforts towards improving public service delivery.

The officer has been serving in the Union Territory of Ladakh for the past three years, during which he has held several important positions and handled key responsibilities. He has served as Director of Education as well as Registrar of Cooperative Societies, besides his present assignment as Director of Rural Development.

During his tenure in Ladakh, Qadri has been widely appreciated for his transformative approach to administration, result-oriented governance and effective implementation of government programmes.

Under his leadership, the Rural Development Department has made significant progress and secured top rankings across almost all major national parameters, reflecting improved performance, efficient implementation and stronger delivery mechanisms at the grassroots level.

The recognition is being seen as a significant acknowledgement of Qadri’s visionary leadership, administrative efficiency and commitment to public service. His contribution has helped strengthen the functioning of the department and improve the implementation of rural development initiatives across the Union Territory.

The HLG Award further highlights the importance of innovative governance, accountability and excellence in public administration, while recognising officers who have demonstrated exceptional commitment towards serving the people.

The honour has also brought recognition to the Rural Development Department of Ladakh, with officials and stakeholders appreciating the department’s achievements under Qadri’s stewardship.(KNC)
