Poonch, Apr 21: (GNS) In an outstanding display of academic excellence, Niyati Dutta from Mendhar in Poonch district has secured the top position in the Class 10 examinations conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE), scoring an exceptional 499 out of 500 marks.

Daughter of Munish Dutta, a government teacher, Niyati shares the top rank with a few other students who also secured 499 marks.
Niyati credited both her parents and teachers for her success. “I learned how to strategise and work hard from my papa, who is also a teacher. My mother has always been supportive and guided me whenever I faced any difficulty,” she told GNS.

She also acknowledged the support of her teachers at both the primary level at KGN Public School and during her higher secondary schooling. She fondly recalled the guidance of mentors such as Lata ma’am and her principal, as well as coaching teachers like Pallavi ma’am. She also hailed contrinution of brother Ishan in teaching her mathematics.
JKBOSE declared the Class 10 results for the Jammu division, recording an overall pass percentage of 88.85 percent.
According to official data, girls outperformed boys with a pass percentage of 90.42 percent, compared to 87.51 percent among boys. A total of 50,754 students appeared in the March session examinations, including 27,486 boys and 23,268 girls.

Out of these, 45,094 students—24,054 boys and 21,040 girls—have been declared qualified. However, around 5,650 students were unable to clear the examination, as per the official figures.

Hailing from a border area often associated with limited resources and challenges, Niyati’s achievement stands as a testament to determination, discipline, and hard work. Her near-perfect score has not only earned her the first rank but has also brought immense pride to Mendhar and the entire district.
Educationists and local residents have widely praised her accomplishment, describing it as a source of inspiration for students across the region. “Her success underscores the immense potential of young minds in far-flung areas when guided by perseverance and commitment,” Nasir Ahmad, a local resident told GNS.

Niyati’s stellar performance has triggered a wave of congratulatory messages, with many wishing her continued success in her academic pursuits. (GNS)
