Zanskar: The Union Territory Administration of Ladakh has opened the online tourism registration portal for registration and renewal of tourist establishments operating in Zanskar, directing all stakeholders to complete the process through the official tourism website.

According to a public notice issued by the Office of the Tourist Officer, Zanskar, the online registration drive covers hotels, guest houses, resorts, camp hotels, homestays, travel agencies, adventure tour operators and motorcycle tour operators.

The notice states that applicants intending to establish new tourist units or renew existing registrations must submit their applications through the official Ladakh Tourism portal. Different categories of tourism units have been prescribed separate eligibility conditions and documentation requirements, including proof of identity, proof of land ownership or lease, trade licence, occupancy certificate, GST registration and other mandatory clearances wherever applicable.

The administration has also notified the registration fee structure for various tourism units. Homestays have been assigned a registration fee of ₹500, while registration and renewal charges for hotels and travel agencies vary according to category and capacity.

After successful online submission, applicants have been directed to submit a signed hard copy of the application along with self-attested documents to the Office of the Tourist Officer, Zanskar, at Padum for verification and further processing. Site inspection and field verification will be conducted wherever required before issuance of the registration certificate.

The notice clarifies that online submission of an application does not automatically confer registration, which will remain subject to document verification, payment of the prescribed fee, field inspection where applicable and approval by the competent authority.

The Tourism Department has advised all eligible tourism entrepreneurs and accommodation providers in Zanskar district to complete the registration process at the earliest. [KNT]
