Man Injured in Alleged Financial Dispute Succumbs After 20 Days; Accused Arrested

J&K Govt Orders Probe Into Alleged Foodgrains Embezzlement In Kupwara

Srinagar, Aug 1: A man who had been battling for his life after sustaining critical injuries in an alleged scuffle over a financial dispute in Gashgund Pungzwa village of Kupwara around 20 days ago succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Srinagar on Saturday.

Officials told news agency JKNS that, the deceased has been identified as Maqsood Ahmad Ganie, son of Wali Mohammad Ganie and a resident of Gashgund Pungzwa, Kupwara.

According to family members, the altercation allegedly stemmed from a financial dispute. They claimed that despite the seriousness of the assault, the accused was not arrested immediately after the incident and was taken into custody only after Maqsood succumbed to his injuries.

Meanwhile, police have arrested the accused and registered a case under the relevant provisions of law. Officials said further investigation is underway.

The bereaved family has demanded strict legal action against the accused, urging the authorities to ensure justice is served and exemplary punishment is awarded to prevent such incidents in the future.

Maqsood Ahmad Ganie is survived by two young children. His family has also appealed for a fair, transparent, and expeditious investigation to ensure that all those responsible are brought to justice. (JKNS)
