Kulgam, Oct 29 (GNS): Police in Kulgam have arrested an absconder wanted in a murder case registered in 2006.
In a handout to GNS, the police said an absconder, namely Tariq Ahmad Ganie son of Mohd Subhan Ganie resident of Hassanpora Bagh, Qaimoh, was arrested in connection with a murder case registered at Police Station Kulgam in 2006.
“On 07/09/2006, a written application was received at Police Station Kulgam from Mohd Maqbool Ganie son of Sanaullah Ganie resident of Hassanpora Bagh, Qaimoh, alleging that during an altercation, the accused struck his daughter on the head with a stick, resulting in her death on spot. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 222/2006 under Section 302 RPC was registered, and investigation was taken up,” police said in a statement.
During course of proceedings, accused absconded, following which Hon’ble Court of Sessions Judge, Kulgam, issued arrest warrant against him.
“Acting on warrant, a police team from Police Station Kulgam apprehended accused and produced him before Hon’ble Court for further legal proceedings,” police added.(GNS)
