Speaking to reporters in Kulgam, Minister Sakina Itoo as per news agency JKNS said that the reopening of schools from today marks a step toward restoring the academic calendar and ensuring students complete their syllabus on time.

“Schools have reopened from today, and we’ve received many calls regarding the change in school timings,” Itoo said. “However, I want to clarify that the current school timings are not final. If we feel any changes or adjustments are needed, we will certainly review them. This is not a rigid decision.”

Minister Sakina Itoo urged students and parents not to worry. “If there are difficulties or complaints from students or parents about the timings, we will make adjustments accordingly. No one should feel anxious,” the minister said.

“The real concern is that we have a November session ahead,” she added. “The aim is for students to study properly and compete academically. Whether it’s resuming classes or adjusting vacations, our only purpose is to help students learn and complete their syllabus.”

“We are already in mid-July. Only August and September are left before the October examinations begin,” she noted. “That’s why we are focused on helping students prepare and succeed. Our children must excel and bring pride to Jammu & Kashmir and the country.”

The statement comes amid criticism faced by the School Education Department and the Education Minister for revising school timings and introducing online classes, as schools across the Valley reopened today following a 15-day summer vacation. (JKNS)
