Srinagar, May 15: The National Testing Agency (NTA), with the approval of the Government of India, has scheduled the re-examination of NEET (UG) 2026 for June 21, following the cancellation of the earlier examination amid allegations of a question paper leak and other irregularities.

The NEET-UG 2026 examination, originally conducted on May 3, was scrapped after reports of a large-scale paper leak surfaced from multiple states, prompting investigations by central agencies and law enforcement authorities. The Centre subsequently directed that the examination be reconducted to ensure fairness and maintain the integrity of the medical entrance process.

According to reports, more than 22 lakh candidates are expected to appear in the fresh examination. The NTA has advised candidates and parents to rely only on official communication channels for updates related to admit cards, examination centres, and revised schedules.

The controversy surrounding the examination triggered nationwide concern after investigative agencies reportedly found similarities between leaked “guess papers” and the actual examination paper. The matter is currently under investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which has conducted searches and made arrests in connection with the alleged leak network.

The NTA is expected to issue fresh admit cards and city intimation slips ahead of the re-examination. Officials have indicated that enhanced security measures and revised examination protocols may be implemented for the upcoming test. (with inputs from agencies)
