Contraband substances recovered Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested two drug peddlers in Ganderbal & Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession. Ganderbal Police received a specific information regarding presence of contraband substance in a residential house of Javaid Ahmad Laharwal son of late Ab Gaffar Laharwal resident of Kondabal. On receipt of this information, a police party on the directions of SSP Ganderbal Shri Nikhil Borkar-IPS, led by SHO Police Station Safapora under the supervision of DySP Hqrs Ganderbal raided the said residential house. During search, Heron like substance was recovered from the said house. The recovered contraband substance was seized in presence of Executive Magistrate First Class & the accused was arrested on the spot. In Baramulla, a police party of Police Station Boniyar headed by SHO PS Boniyar at a checkpoint established at Ahtishampora Boniyar intercepted one person. During search, 46 grams of Charas like substance was recovered from his possession. He has been identified as Imran Ahmad Sheikh son of Gh Mohd Sheikh resident of Bujhthalan Boniyar. He has been arrested and shifted to PS Boniyar where he remains in custody. Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective Police Stations & further investigation have been taken up. People are requested to cooperate with police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
