Secretariat employees protest, give goby to social distancing norms

Srinagar, Jun 4 (GNS): Notwithstanding social-distancing norms amid the prevailing of novel Coronavirus pandemic, Civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union President Thursday held a protest rally at Civil Secretariat Jammu.
A video clip doing rounds on social media shows President Rouf Ahmad Bhat addressing a rally of more than two dozen people without adhering to social-distancing norms in the lawns of Civil Secretariat Jammu.
The fellow employees questioned “go-by” to the key social distancing requirement against Coronavirus.
An employee told GNS over the phone that the rally conducted has raised an alarm among the people working in the Secretariat. “God forbid if any untoward happens who will be responsible? “, he questioned, adding, “If any such gathering is held at a place like Civil Secretariat being the highest seat of government, what can be expected from others.”
The President, civil Secretariat Non-Gazetted Employees Union demanded that the ‘durbar move’ should be ‘put off amid the spike of novel Coronavirus cases.’ As per a tentative schedule, the secretariat is formally opening in Srinagar on June 15. Repeated attempts to contacted Rouf Ahmed Bhat for comments did not fructify. (GNS)
