HOIs Directed to Inspect Infrastructure, Submit Readiness Reports Through ZEOs; Verification Committees Constituted to Ensure Safe Resumption of Classes
Rajouri, July 26: In preparation for the safe resumption of academic activities, the Chief Education Officer (CEO), Rajouri, has directed all teaching and non-teaching staff of government and private schools across the district to report to their respective institutions on Monday, July 27, 2026.
According to an official circular issued by the CEO Rajouri, the move has been initiated in view of the prevailing situation to ensure the safety, preparedness and smooth reopening of educational institutions across the district.
The circular directs every Head of Institution (HoI) to carry out a detailed physical inspection of school buildings and campus infrastructure. After the inspection, a comprehensive School Safety and Readiness Status Report is to be prepared and submitted through the concerned Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) or Cluster Head.
The inspection will cover key aspects including the structural safety and overall condition of school buildings, classrooms, boundary walls, staircases and other infrastructure. Heads of institutions have also been asked to assess the adequacy and safety of seating arrangements for students, cleanliness and sanitation of campuses, functionality of toilets, availability of safe drinking water, and the condition of electricity, water supply, approach roads, playgrounds and other essential facilities.
The report must also identify any damage or deficiencies caused by recent weather conditions or any other issue requiring immediate attention, besides highlighting any concern that could affect the safe and smooth functioning of schools or the resumption of classroom activities.
To ensure transparency, the CEO has directed Cluster Heads, in coordination with the concerned Zonal Education Officers, to constitute Verification Committees headed by Senior Lecturers, Lecturers or Headmasters. These committees will independently re-verify the safety, security and overall preparedness of all government and private educational institutions within their jurisdiction.
The Verification Committees and Heads of Institutions have been instructed to ensure that every school is fit and safe for reopening. Their reports are to be submitted to the Chief Education Officer through the concerned ZEO by 5:00 PM on July 27, 2026.
The circular further states that all Heads of Institutions, Cluster Heads, Zonal Education Officers and members of the Verification Committees must strictly comply with the directions already issued by the Directorate of School Education Jammu.
The Chief Education Officer warned that any negligence or delay in implementing these instructions will be viewed seriously.(KNC)
