Srinagar: Twelve first-year students at the School of Law of University of Kashmir alleged that they were removed from the examination hall on November 13 during their second end-semester exam on the grounds of attendance shortage. According to the students, the administration barred them from continuing their exam after invigilators intervened citing non-compliance with mandatory attendance rules.

The students said they were barred despite a recent ruling by the Delhi High Court that held that law students cannot be prevented from writing exams solely for reasons of attendance shortage. The affected students claim they had been assured of appearing in the examination and were unaware of any final decision regarding their eligibility.
