Srinagar, April 24: Two militants were killed minutes after they abducted a railway policeman at Yaripora area of Kulgam in south Kashmir on Friday, police said.

Director General of Police J&K Dilbagh Singh told GNS that both the militants (abductors) were killed in the brief gunfight. He said that the cop who was abducted is safe now.

One cop, however, sustained bullet wound in his arm, the DGP said.

Inspector General of Police Kashmir Range, Vijay Kumar (IPS) further divulging the details to GNS said that militants abducted a railway police personnel at Shirpora village following which an immediate cordon was launched by a joint team of police and army. Soon militants were chased at Kharpora leading to a brief gunfight in which both of them were killed while a policeman was injured.

“The joint team successfully rescued the abducted cop,” the IGP added. (GNS)
